Must I be completely undressed?
Depending which treatment techniques are used you will stay fully dressed, partially unclothed or undressed to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session.
For a cranial-sacral therapy sessions you stay dressed.

Are there different kinds of massage and bodywork?
There are numerous types of massage and bodywork; various techniques utilize different strokes, very light touch with lymphatic drainage, posture and movement re-education, stretches, application of pressure to specific points, and more. We can discuss what may be most appropriate and effective for you.

How will I feel after the session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days.

Bodywork following a period of extended stress (during which the lymphatic system is not working optimally) can have the effect of loading the elimination systems with more metabolic waste. Staying hydrated will keep these systems functioning properly. Your therapist will let you know, if anything is recommended to do after the treatment.

What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?
Massage and bodywork can help release tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured tissue, help the lymphatic system to drain better, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure.

Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
YES. That's why it's imperative that, before you begin your session, the practitioner asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. Depending on your condition, approval from your doctor may be required.
